This was a surprise to me, since I found the whole rescuing Faile from the Shaido plotline to be quite boring in Winter's Heart and Crossroads of Twilight. But after that, life returns to its daily grind. Also it was a shame to see that there was no Mat POV in this book, especially since his story ended on a cliffhanger in A Crown of Swords. Yes, It's late - yes, we're still doing episodes. In the end, in an attempt to block the harbor so that Tar Valon cannot continue to supply itself with supplies and soldiers, Egwene and Leane work together to turn the great harbor chains into cuendillar. Rand must not only work through his own fears and doubts but also learn the myriad of customs and religions and, somehow, get the countries together so they can fight The Last Battle. In order to explain its faults and salvations, though, it's time for me to go more in-depth. In a nutshell, it tells the story of the battle between good and evil, embodied here by the 'Dragon Reborn' and the Dark One. The ending to the book is actually pretty great. As for the positives that placed this book in its position, one thing that I appreciate about The Dragon Reborn was how it handled Mat. Rand is also bonded to Alanna Mosvani, although unwillingly. A Memory of Light made me emotional numerous time, with me tearing up three times when reading. If we don't, we risk ill health, ennui, depression, possibly even death.
I will get the negatives I have out of the way first, so I can end on the positives for this one. It will prove very expensive, although Amazon is reportedly spending over $10 million per episode for the opening series (which is on par with the final series of Game of Thrones) and comparable with Amazon's other epic fantasy series The Lord of the Rings.
