This Won't End Well Camille Pagan Mean
There were a lot of things going on in This Won't End Well and I loved every minute of it. They go down like light-hearted, escapist reads, but they address issues that matter to us all. There are a lot of strong female characters in this book which is another thing I loved about it. The thing I love about Camille Pagan's writing (and it was the same in FITWLT) is that her characters make some decisions that you might not think are the smartest, but they're realistic. Definitely better late than never in Annie's case. She was a chemist in the book who later became a cleaning lady…hmm sorry…a cleaning professional. Following her discovery of herself and her coming to terms with who she is and who she wants to be was beautiful. Annie first observes him suspiciously lurking about the backyard borders of hers and Harper's properties. When a mysterious new neighbor moves in and she falls into a new friendship, she is forced to reassess her worldview. Ignoring his instructions not to write, she continues a series of emails to him outlining her views, her feelings on all matters to which there are no replies. Pagan handles all these threads like the seasoned pro she is, creating a memorable main character in Annie, keeping the pacing tight (raced through this in two days! Moreover, running away from one's emotions is tiring, and then you realise that some people can help you cope with them. This book is mainly about relationships and though I am not a fan of delving too much into the emotional issues of such, the writing in the form of emails for the most part interspersed with chapters of the story added a variance to this book. Annie Mercer is going through a rough time. I am a huge fan of Camille Pagan and I was super excited to read "This Won't End Well". Swee' Pea, the baby, he was my favorite. I find her words easy to read, story well paced, characters lovable and a feel good story with a feel good conclusion. Then things go belly up a bit when her fiancé tells her he's going to France while he's on the plane taking off, she has to leave her job due to circumstances that are less than pleasant all while dealing with her best friend's new found interests in crystals and how they can change your life.. (Annie, girl, I feel you on this one). The book has moments of sheer brilliance, such as her snarky email exchanges with Leesa and Jon, but I found the story less than captivating in the second half. This book delights me. I would recommend it if you enjoy women's fiction. She thinks she's fine. Could you see where the story was going and why I couldn't stop reading? This is a very readable upbeat story with charm and humor. Perhaps the title was foreshadowing.

Didn't enjoy this quite as much as my first read from this author, but it was still an enjoyable story and I'm excited to keep diving into her backlist! I've had the pleasure of reading several of Camille's books, and they have a few important things in common: they're all about love, loss, navigating life's curve balls. When I'm not at my computer, you'll find me with my nose in a book, running after my two kids, or planning my next trip (most likely to Puerto Rico, where my husband was born and raised). It felt more intimate!

But her own curiosity and instinct for wanting to do the right thing requires her to open up to new people and experiences. She is quite unique.
