Cv Axle Wont Go In

CV Axle Won't Go In All the Way. Anyway, I'm trying to change the seals on both side. Having a difficult time getting either axle to go back in its place. Turning will eventually work the shaft completely out. It can be off a spline or two or does it have to be exact? Slides in and out like butter! You just have to pop it back in after the splines line up. I've used a sledgehammer every time i installed a cv axle. Another more obscure cause could be something I've seen a couple of times. From underneath I held the inner CV joint in while pushing the hub out, then letting it swing back in bottiming the CV joints to make a light tap. New CV Axle won't go all the way in, and now I can't get it out! Cv axle going bad. Doing fluid flushing, diagnostics, VIDA tranny resets, test driving, etc.

How To Tell A Bad Cv Axle

Cv Axle Going Bad

I have the old one out and I am in the process of trying to meet up the replacement. Does the cv axle have a lock ring on it? I guess I'm not pushing the axle in hard enough, it just seems like it is taking quite a bit more effort than my girlfriend's Civic's axle, but idk that was awhile ago. 2) force on the spline in the wrong place likely to cause a "Burr" that will create a similar condition to remove the part and though successful I'm quite sure you'd rather not have to cut the axle twice and remove the diff the next time CV axle needs replacing. Can You Drive Without A Cv Axle

Spines should line up and travel a certain distance until the circlip causes interference - is this your problem? It looks like there's a gap when I examine the backside but it hits metal to metal when I try to put it in. If I lift that wheel high enough to make the axle straight, I can get it to come out slightly more, but it won't go back in any further than that. Hydraulics are awesome!

Joined: 12 Nov 2010, 09:25. If it does move the snap ring is not seated in the differential gears. I wouldn t reuse that clip, get a new one or return that axle & get another axle. The most common cause of this problem is along the same lines as the aforementioned c-clip problem. Is it normal for these to slip out after installation?

If its on warranty you can buy a new one, install it, bring back the old one, get the warranty replacement, and then return the replacement with your new one's receipt. At this... i had a hell of a time getting mine to "snap" in it turned out to circlips that came with the new axle were alot thicker than the original mpare them.. i ended up using my old clips on the new axle and "snapped" in just like it was supposed to. Sometimes the shaft will get jerked around during installation, causing the joint to come apart inside the boot, where it's likely to go unnoticed until the car won't move a mile down the road. You definitely need a clip but it only needs to hold with enough force to pull the expanding part of the CV apart so if it doesn't tap in with a reasonable amount of force replace the snap ring and try again. Take the big bolt out where the lateral links attach to the upright (if you can). If splines are not lined up exactly then I would have a very difficult time getting it back out.
