His students have performed as soloists with orchestra, and have participated and won distinction in area competitions such as the Collin County Young Artist Competition, the Roger & Ella Jo Adams Concerto Competition, and the Dallas Symphonic Festival. Sullivan is a rising Senior at McCallum High School who's been playing Double Bass for eight years. National achievements include winning the American Suzuki Institute's Shinichi Suzuki Scholar Award in 2004 and 2005, national finalist in the Music Teachers Nation Association Studio Teachers scholarship competition, Most Outstanding Graduate Student (University of Texas at Arlington), and membership in Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honors society. He was part of TMEA's Honors Orchestra in middle school. The Plano Symphony Orchestra hosts the Collin County Young Artist Competition annually. Additionally, he received extensive, worldwide media coverage, including NBC, Carrollton Leader, Dallas Morning News, Dallas Chinese Times, Counterpoint Magazine (UNT), NextStep Magazine, Voyage Dallas Magazine and CCTV (China). He is currently enrolled in the selective Graduate Certificate in Performance program at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he is a scholarship student of Dr. John Solomons.
