It just didn't meet any of the expectations a reader would reasonably have, given the beloved known character and the blessing of his creator. I began to think the author had made her incompetent on purpose and this was part of the story, but eventually it became clear it was the author that didn't really know what she was doing, as towards the end of the book the agents suddenly became experienced experts.
But an encounter with an old nemesis turns their historical reenactment into a real life-and-death pursuit. Narrated by: Raven Dauda, David Ferry, Christo Graham, and others.
