One can't help seeing the parallels between Vietnam where 282, 000 military deaths occurred and Afghanistan, where it seemed they played chess while we played Go Fish where 2, 448 people serving their country lost their lives. The Body Code is a truly revolutionary method of holistic healing. There was never a word or phrase that likely described what these young individuals experienced before, during, and after. Passing into the Archive should be cause for celebration, but with her militant uncle Kreon rising to claim her father's vacant throne, all Antigone feels is rage. It employs genuinely awful turns of phrase, and replaces potentially profound moments with tired, overused expressions. It would be difficult to be strong at chess if you had a subnormal IQ, but you certainly don't need an IQ of above average. The rest of the world – those who have experienced much – are playing chess. Trifunovic was a very solid player, extremely hard to beat. Dugoni did a great deal of research and includes these sources in the back (please read it). It seems that he made a mistake about the name of the author, giving it as Konig. Dugoni treats William's story with the utmost respect, honor, and sympathy, and I weeped quite a few times because of how meaningful and yet sorrowful it was. Tal became world champion in 1960. These are books that repay constant reading and rereading. This is a cornucopia of sorts: High school graduation and college hopes, male bonding friendships (some that last a lifetime -some that don't), a summer construction job, (too much asbestos/ construction details), Vietnam vets war stories, baseball & football stories, love-wish-stories, PTSD sufferings, friendships, loss, regrets, family, parenting themes, father-son relationship, memories, love, loss, death …. The teenage Vincent gets only the bits and pieces that William feels comfortable sharing; even the inexperienced college-bound kid knows that this hard-working, beer-swigging, cigarette-smoking veteran is a tortured soul. Quite often, the reason why, as we get older, we lose more games of chess – certainly in my case – is that you begin to get more pain from thinking than you do from losing. Vincent is also dealing with his son Beau's coming of age, trying to help him make wise choices. Outside the last city on Earth, the planet is a wasteland. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life seems too good to be true. People say he made it look easy. Mikhail Botvinnik, who was world champion on and off from 1948 to 1963, said that if music was "an art that illustrates the beauty of sound", then chess was "an art that illustrates the beauty of logic".
