There is not a single F-in thing wrong with racking a gun with the trigger fully depressed, as long as you have verified the gun is empty and has no mag. The biggest problem though was the slide frequently failed to go back into battery until I released the trigger after a shot. Be harder to kill: | |. I don't know if this could be what's causing your issue as 115 gr. There is certainly something going on with your individual pistol.

If the firing pin did not drop then chances are that is the issue. I have shot 147, 124 and 117gn through it with the same results. Since he apparently doesn't have a firing pin safety spring problem then my best guess is that his connector has too much outward angle on it. Slide action is pretty smooth.

You cannot test by removing the slide stop, because then the slide will never lock back - not even on an empty magazine. Is it a brand new barrel/slide combo or one well mated off a previous gun? What was the practice ammo? Try some different, hotter practice ammo and see if the issues continue. If the slide stop spring goes under the top pin then it's installed correctly. Get some decent 124grn stuff. If you're able to tap the slide and drop it into battery, it suggests that there may be a bit too much drag on the slide or mechanism to let it slide home under spring pressure alone; eliminating some of that drag by lubricating can make a big difference. The connector only needs about the thickness of one sheet of 20lb paper between the trigger housing and connector for proper function. The problem should disappear as the slide stop disappears. The range instructor with me said he could tell a big difference in how fast the slide moved from the practice ammo to the duty ammo. Things to note on a P80 is that the rails are sometimes not within spec for earlier models. Does the defensive round do it also?
