That's what I like about Youngblood. Inspired by the true story of Vince Papale, a man with nothing to lose who ignored the staggering odds and made his dream come true. We Are Marshall is the same old tired out formula that seems to plague sports dramas. Chiwetel Ejiofor play a jiu-jitsu instructor who ends up having to fight for honor at the end of the movie, as do most martial artists in movies who claim they don't want to fight. Story: High school basketball is king in small-town Indiana, and the 1954 Hickory Huskers are all hope and no talent. It took me a while to see this movie because it seemed like such an Oscar grab. But Rocky managed to make not one, but three sequels that are extremely watchable. Plot: friendship, kids and family, nuclear war, transformation, sport, politics, athlete's life, anti war, sport team, ambition, hopes, fighting the system... Time: 80s. One of those scenes, McConaughey's pre-game talk at the burial site of six members of the 1970 tragedy, sticks with Uproxx senior entertainment writer Mike Ryan, as a memorable moment of the film.
