It is a remake of the film The Magnificent Seven from 1960, which is, in turn, a remake of the classic 1954 Japanese film, The Seven Samurai. Besides Chisolm and Faraday, some standout characters include the high-pitched speaking and murderous Jack Horne (Vincent D'Onofrio), the knife wielding Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), and the timid war veteran Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke). There are inevitably going to be a fair few groans at the prospect of yet another remake in 2016, but whether you like it or not, we be got another bite of the hard-bitten western cherry that is The Magnificent Seven. Not that I didn't enjoy them, just that the whole machismo, testosterone-driven affairs didn't really do much for me.
